Hajime no Ippo!, Hajime no Ippo Discussion Thread

This thread is solely for discussion of the Manga, Hajime no Ippo only. What did you like and dislike about it? What are your favorite and least favorite parts of it? Who is/are your favorite character(s)?
Personally, I really like Takamura and Ippo. Not so much for their overwhelming strength, but for the constant jokes that are caused by Takamura, or the cruel, yet often hilarious jokes pulled on Ippo. My favorite Fight is the Japanese Featherweight Title match between Ippo and Sendou.
In my opinion, the manga does a few things pretty well. Its all about character development, and in the 930+ chapters it takes a pretty good chunk of them all to itself. Its incredibly humorous, and the characters are well thought at for the most part.
Its not without its flaws though. The art style made the featherweights look gigantic. While this looked good, it was unrealistic. Its now rectified, but looks much worse in my opinion. The manga, however, has horrible pacing. A lot of the in-between fight chapters could be cut and/or reduced to speed up the manga. Its great that its been continuing for over 20 years, but at the same there there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.
